UMD Athletic Hall of Fame
Hirschey made UMD history in March 1988 by becoming the first Bulldog athlete to win a national individual title by capturing the 142 pound weight class crown at the NAIA National Championships. The eventual national champion went 32-6-0 that year and finished his Bulldog wrestling career with a 82-30-0 individual record. Hirschey also captured the NSIC 158-pound title in both 1987 and 1988.
